Remember when William Holden died the story was the irony that the legendary Hollywood lover was on his own but it then emerged that his long term partner Stephanie Powers (25 years his junior) had just left days before in an attempt to shock him into dealing with his drink problem.
Most famous person I've met Ed Balls, a genuinely nice guy with a great sense of humour.

I nearly met Carlos Sainz.
I was in Piraeus for work and he was on a neighbouring table when we went out for our evening meal.
Spanish bloke in our group was embarrassingly excited by this, but couldn't muster up the courage to meet his hero.
My reaction was: who? (still is, really).

No it's a lot older than that. William Holden was in England in 1960 shooting the interior scenes for The World Of Suzie Wong. The location shooting was done in Hong Kong.
I have signed photos of William Holden, Michael Wilding and Nancy Kwan who were the three main actors.

Use to see Bobby Moore regularly in his pubs in Stratford and Bethnal Green, Met Henry Cooper at a the NABC finals at the Grosvenor in Park Lane. A real gent. It was a black tie event and the photo took pride of place on my mums mantelpiece for years

Quite a few, but with respect to this site it has to be Bobby Moore. He was hosting my table at a sports dinner - I think it was back in the late 80s. Very nice man - very ordinary.

William Holden was a very good actor whose career suffered because he was an alcoholic.
Ended up dying after a fall at home
Am sure he was keen to be introduced to pubs by your Dad.

I once blanked Jon Bon Jovi, as did the 10 or so people around me.
Many years ago, hanging around the stage door of Hammersmith Odeon after an Iron Maiden gig in the 80s with a bunch of other fans waiting for Maiden, JBJ comes out, blonde model type on each arm with a big grin on his face clearly expecting to be mobbed. People took him in, realised he wasn't in Maiden before continuing to wait for the real people and ignoring him and his models. In fact I think someone asked him if Maiden were coming out soon.
Probably a bit unusual for him, even back then.
